VIVEKANANDA KENDRA VIDYALAYA, KHATKHATI
A Brief History-
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Khatkhati, is a co-educational
English medium school, established under the auspices of the Vivekananda Kendra,
Kanyakumari- a Spiritually Oriented Service Mission. The seed of the
‘Vidyalaya’ was sown in the soil of Sarumanthi-Kachari Gaon, Khatkhati, Bokajan
immediately after the foundation of the Vivekananda Kendra on the Living Rock
Memorial of Swami Vivekananda at Kanyakumari. A Weaving and Tailoring: learning
- cum training Centre was started initially and soon a Project with the title
“Vivekananda Kendra Rural Welfare Project, Khatkhati” was constituted in 1986
under the parental organization “Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari”.
Khatkhati is a
small town in the district Karbi Anglong of Assam and the Head Quarter of this Autonomous
Hill District is located at Diphu. In 1986 and in 1988, the District
Administration allotted a plot of land, (measuring 160 bighas in total) to
Vivekananda Kendra for establishing a School, a Health Centre for the welfare
of the local people of the surrounding villages, a Weaving & Tailoring Centre,
a Vocational Training Centre for the local Rural Youth and a Girls Hostel for
the School and weaving trainees. With the sole purpose of disseminating the
message of “Man Making - Nation Building” through value based Nationalistic Education
on the land of Karbi Anglong the building of the school was constructed in 2018
on the donation of Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Numaligar and finally in the
name “Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Khatkhati” a school was started with formal
classes from class Nursery in the Session 2018-2019. The educational system of the
Vidyalaya is being administer by the Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag
(VKSPV) Guwahati - the educational wing of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. The
Kendra is registered under the TAMIL NADU SOCIETIES REGISTRATION ACT 1975
(Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1975).
In the beginning (Session: 2018-19), only five students
got enrolled in the Vidyalaya (VKV, Khatkhati). Gradually the students’
enrollment started to increased. In the session 2023-24 total number of
students increased upto 155. Slowly but steadily the name of VKVKhatkhati started spreading in the district Karbi Anglong because
of its quality education based on the objective Man Making-Nation.
We acknowledge the relentless endeavours
and selfless efforts of the Jeevanvrati & other Karyakartas of the Vivekananda
Kendra, Well-wishers, Acharyas of our Vidyalaya, Parents, NRL Numaligarh, the
Government Assam as well as Donors for the development of various Institutions
on the allotted land i.e. a School, a Training centre, a Hostel for Girls, a
Prayer hall, a Health and Wellness-cum-Yoga Centre, a Guest House - cum - Exhibition
Hall, an RCC Foot Bridge, a Shiva Temple, Toilet Block of the School, a Computer
Lab, etc.
Bokajan
Town Unit: Bokajan Town Unit (BTU) is a Unit School (class- Balvatika-I to
Class-II) of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Khatkhati started in the year 2019.
The main objective to start the Unit School at Bokajan under VKV Khatkhati is
to provide quality education based on the objective “Man Making-Nation Building”.
