"Raksha Bandhan" was celebrated at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Khatkhati and its Bokajan Town Unit on the 30th of August, 2023 (Wednesday). The programme was celebrated at the Prarthana Sabhagriha of the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Khatkhati in presence of students, teaching and non-teaching staff members, the sisters and other members of the Vivekananda Kendra, the ILC and the Headmaster of the institution. The programme was started as per the rituals of the Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari.
The speech on the broader aspects of ‘Raksha
Bandhan’ was delivered by the Headmaster of the institution. With the chanting
of the Gayatri Mantra by all the brothers and sisters, ‘rakhis’ were
tied to each other with the ‘Sankalpa’ to protect and respect themselves
forever.
Then, the students of both the Vidyalayas
along with teaching and non-teaching staff members had tied a holy thread
around the trunk of the Peepal tree located at the school campus. Thereafter,
we had tied ‘rakhis’ to the cows in our campus and shared about the
value of cow and trees in the life of all living beings. In this unique way, we
had actually promised to safeguard trees and cows along with each other as a
family on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’.
